A match between two players with these names would have to generate something odd! (One married the other's cousin, hence the names). The official scoreboard stuck with Zahlavova a set and 5-3 15-15, nothing too unusual there. The next match on that court duly appeared but Betfair failed to suspend the market and it stayed open until the end of the 1st set of the next match before it was finally suspended. Ah well, one thought, just market ops being a bit slow. But it then re-opened minutes later! It wasn't finally suspended until the next match had almost finished.
All the while the market was open there was a lot of activity as people who were on Zahlavova but a bit worried there was a very slim chance she may had suffered an injury on match point and had to retire covered their positions and those who knew the result helped themselves to free munney.
Now I've got a lot of admiration for the way Betfair runs the markets - there's so many to track and stop or start - but this sort of daft occurence is quite mad. Did they not have the intelligence to see the next match had started and at least suspend the market with settlement pending? I wonder what they'll do with all the bets matched long after the match had finished.
