NFL playoffs take centre stage

It was favs carnage to end the WTA week, with 5 out of 6 losing! Highly unusual, partucularly at the sharp end of the week. Didn't pull the trigger on any of them, as I don't like backing pre-match dogs in running. Given that 70%+ of favs win, you really are asking for trouble in the long run by backing against them. Yet at the same time, none of the favs ever really looked like turning it around. (If that makes any sense lol)

There was a new release of the Geeks toy and it looks to be working ok now for Aus markets, though I haven't had a bet with the new version yet.

Sydney and Hobart start tonight, as they have to finish a day earlier than normal before the Slam. Not sure how much notice I'll be paying to them as NFL playoffs also start tonight. Anything can happen, so treading lightly.

Moneybuyers out in force

Nice to see liquidity picked up tonight, with a relatively massive £1.5m GBP matched on the Wickmayer match, most of it sub 1.3 as Wickmayer went pretty much straight to 1.01. Was happy to up stakes slightly seeing that.

The Betfair / Bet365 feed from Auckland is possibly the slowest feed I've ever seen! Sometimes it was hard to tell if it was 1 or maybe even 2 games behind. We've got used to such fast feeds from the bookies that it was a bit of a shock.

Decided to have a short kip after the Goerges match and thankfully didn't wake up in time for the start of the Groth match as I'd planned to back Jarka. She played a stinker, and Petkovic played pretty good. Phew. Dodged a bullet there.

Geeks toy users beware

The Geek's Toy isn't displayed the dummy cross match bets on Aus markets, so you have to be very careful when using the hedge figure. As you can see, it's calc'ing the green up figure using a back of Vesnina at 2 and not a lay of Halep at 1.2. The latter would result in an all green of about £14. The Geek has said it'll be in the next release but no date - probably after the Aus season is over and it won't matter for another 11 months! lol

Update : 7 Jan. I should say, as the Geek has commented, that there was a new release of the Toy and the Aus markets now display the dummy cross match bets. So the greening up figure will be close to optimal, although how close it is will depend on the distribution of your bets between the two players and the over round.

Another quiet day, poor liquidity again hence small stakes again. Messed up the Kuzzy match royally - had called it perfectly, a back prematch then reverse after the 1st set (Kuz is master of the 2nd set wobble). But it went pear shaped after that as I'd expected Kuz to cruise the 3rd as per usual, only for Peng to win. Had to take a red dammit. Also messed up a lay of Bart by nodding off and missing out on a nice trade!

A year later

Can't believe it's been a year since I started this! Blimey time flies.

I'd found doing the blog quite helpful but had given up last Spring as there's better things to do when the weather's good lol. But in the depths of the N Hemisphere winter there's quite a bit of spare time. So why not start up again?

I've had very few bets so far this season, mainly because liquidity has been painfully thin and I've hesitated getting involved with iffy exit points. Just been betting small to get back into the WTA rhythm again. So not much to report so far. Jarka Groth knocked off Sam Stosur, but there wasn't a feed so can't say if Groth played good or Sam was rusty, probably a bit of both. Groth showed some really good form last year and definitely one to follow.
